History defines the Dark Age (which I should better call as ‘The Dark Age 1’) as the period when the Western Roman Empire was devastated. This took place when the last Roman Emperor, Romulus Augustulus, was deposed by Odoacer, a Barbarian.AD 476 was the time of this event.
This era was coined by the historians as the ‘dark ages’ due to the backward practices that seemed to prevail on the land which the God Himself had nourished. The Dark Ages was an era of the religious struggle. Orthodox Christians and the Catholics viewed the era with different perspectives. Orthodox Christians regarded this time as a period of Catholic corruption: they repudiated the ways of the Catholic Church with its papal doctrines and hierarchy. It was an Era of Faith vs Enlightenment. Roving horses-bound invaders charged the country and barbarous practices prevailed.
Unfortunately, the Dark Age has returned, and this time in its “Indian Version” in support of the saying that “History repeats itself”. The scenario is almost the same with The Catholics replaced by our devout politicians who practice the religion of corruption and believe only one God, The Goddess Money, which I exaggerate as The Goddess Lakshmi. Every year our priests deposit wads of currency into their accounts in The Swiss Banks and other overseas banks describing their ultimate devotion to The Goddess. Had the famous Chanakya known while creating the Artha Shastra that this would be the consequence of his ingenious mind, he probably would never had introduced money to this country. This Holy dell where once existed one of the most powerful civilizations of the world has now become the most infamous example of corruption. In The Dark Age 1 the only punishment for a man who repudiated the word of Pope was death, here in its Indian version a 74 year old soldier refusing to practice the religion of corruption is sent to the most hostile jail of the country. Whereas in the Dark Age 1 the people suffered from starvation, now the people don’t let their mouth take a bite of food for seeking redressal from the government. Alongside this we have many who are fed forcefully by their state government so that their death may not give birth to more anshans. Many examples are set to demonstrate that how entrenched the corruption had become in India. Scandals like 2G spectrum, Common Wealth Games scam have become a shame for this country. This is the current situation of the 7th largest country of the world’s, a country whose economy is considered as the second fastest growing economy of the world, a democratic country having the largest constitution in its written form, a country which is consumed by its own rulers until its people are consumed by death.
Although much devastation has been caused, but like every age this period too needs a revolution and hence the revolutionists. It is urgent for us to hoove the dirt from this land. If the rulers don’t use their head of their own, we must start a movement to awaken them. Agitation is the need of the day. This Dark Age will not end merely by taking action against a few officers and ministers and it is necessary that a change should be brought about in the system. Unless decentralization of power takes place, the system will not change. In order to bring change in the system, information should be made available to people regarding Govt.'s actions which is not being provided to people on the ground of secrecy. If the existing laws do not have teeth to prosecute the politicians and the bureaucrats, it is necessary to take laws in our hands. Passing stronger anti-graft laws to tackle the ever increasing corruption and bringing back the Indian Black money stashed in Swiss banks and other banks overseas is necessary. Passing stronger anti-graft laws to tackle the ever increasing corruption and bringing back the Indian Black money stashed in Swiss banks and other banks overseas is necessary. We all must come together to force/request/persuade/pressurize the Government to enact the Lokpal Bills. Today India needs not only merely the some social activists, but a mass of anti-corruption crusaders. Anshans, movements , Maun-Vrats, Lokpal Bills, Satyagraha, Non-violence, demonstrations, signature campaigns, fast unto death, Jail Bharo andolans etc etc.. whatever it takes, must be done to end the reign of these vacuous and sloth rulers. Otherwise, without any doubts I predict that a big devastation is waiting for us.
